BB Biathlon
BB Biathlon is an entry-level program designed to introduce young people to the sport of biathlon with a minimal amount of equipment and training. The program is designed to allow a person to use an air rifle that can be obtained from any sporting goods store at minimal cost to learn the fundamentals of marksmanship and biathlon competition. The program is ideally suited to Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, church and youth organizations, and municipal recreational programs, but is designed to enable almost anyone to organize a group and to participate. This manual is intended to be sufficiently basic so that a person with very little shooting or skiing experience can still use it to structure a program or a one-time event. The program is designed as a small group activity for about 10 people or less, which can comfortably be handled by adult leaders. There should be at least 1 adult leader for every 5 participants, for safety reasons. The principal program objectives are as follows:
- Learn and Practice the Fundamentals of Rifle Safety.
- Learn and Practice the Fundamentals of Firing a Shot.
- Learn and Practice the Fundamentals of Cross Country Skiing.
- Learn and Practice Fundamentals of Biathlon.
- Have FUN!
